Over 1000 visitors came out to Discover Lake Monjingup for themselves and it was great to see lots of people getting involved in the arts and craft workshops/ listening to the live music or just enjoying being in the countryside. Fortunately Esperance people are well versed with keeping a handy eye on weather forecasts and most of us were expecting the front to come in during the afternoon, but sadly it arrived early and cut the day short with huge winds and torrential downpours seeing people scurrying to their cars, demolishing tents, rescuing PA gear and hoping not to get hit by lightning (yes it was all rather exciting!) The most disappointing aspect was that the Kalgoorlie Community Showband were only able to perform a couple of songs. At least most people came and enjoyed the sunny but blustery morning and who knows, maybe we will have the opportunity to invite the showband back some sunny(er) day!
